Did anyone at TVGuide.com attend the Battlestar Galactica press screening on Monday night? If so, what's the frakkin' word? — Danny

MICKEY: I am in Florida, exploring an unfamiliar civilization of a different sort (the retirement community), so we sent TVGuide.com Nerd High Priestess Erin Fox. Once Doc Cottle revived her with smelling salts, she said this: "The first hour-and-a-half of the finale is so intense, you'll find it difficult to breathe. So many questions will be answered — including some you probably thought wouldn't be addressed due to time constraints. Also, if Mary McDonnell isn't recognized by the Emmys this year, it'll be a frakkin' shame. She had the crowd in tears more than once with her brilliant performance." Erin then hugged her Cylon toaster to her chest, placed a paper bag over her mouth and nose and breathed gently until it was safe to stand again.

Looks like the finale isn't going to be a crap, entirely character driven pile of poo after all.

    Heh. :P

I just took that as the last quarter isn't going to be as action orientated. Cavil will probably be dead by that stage.

great news. First positive news i've read about the finale.

And as much as i dislike her character these days I do think Mary McDonnell has been brilliant in this show. She looked so frail when she walked out onto the hanger deck and chose her side. They have been the best group of actors i've seen in a tv show.

The whole show is character driven, if you don't like character driven stories I really don't know how you've kept watching Galactica because it's a vital part of the series and one of its most fulfilling aspects.

I love character driven shows. However from recent interviews with RDM,he was saying that the entire finale was only about character resolutions and basically said 'screw the pllot'. Character driven shows are only good if they're backed by a strong plot/mythology otherwise we might aswell watch eastenders.

    Looking forward to it myself.

Although everytime I see a thread title with 'Good News' as the subject I always read it like Professor Farnsworth.

Well even if it isn't I reckon people will be disappointed. You know when people build up a movie so much that it seems bad as you expect so much. I expect the same here. Lord of the rings is the only movie to smash that phenomenon.

(IMO) Definitely a very solid cast.

I certainly wouldn't complain about the acting. Though the overuse of the word 'frack' is very grating.
