Since my last Mechanic in Rathmines closed up shop (it seems honesty didn't pay :-( ), I've been stuck for who to go to locally. I've got somebody at home in waterford, but in Dublin when something goes wrong I'm stranded. Last time, I went to Twyford, and although they are good their labour rate just went up to €100/hr - I'm a student, cheap 'n' cheerful please.

Afraid it needs to be relatively close - my car just shat itself, not holding coolant (leaks right back out) and white smoke coming from the bottom of the car. (Suggestions of what to expect welcome!)
Can't find the problem myself so it's a mechanic job... Thanks

SDP Motors in Dolphins Barn. According to Google Maps its only about 3km from Ranelagh.

We use them a lot in work and they are excellent. If you google SDP motors you'll come up with a lot of Boards threads recommending them.

Thanks for the replies folks, I've just found JF Motors (who I didn't know existed) are about a 30second drive from me, so seems like the best bet. Any experience, comment re: prices etc?
    Thanks :D
Edit: No they're not, the first map I found was wrong.. They're still closest though..

Okay went to Grosvenor Lane in the end- a guy from Iraq looked after it, found the slit hose in question (not the head gasket, thank F*CK!) and fixed it. Took almost an hour and only charged 50 quid, absolute legend.
If anybody needs some work done in around D6/D6W I can't reccomend these guys enough. They open 10am-7pm, if you come from Leinster Road take the turn towards Grosvenor Square, and then take a left down the laneway. Continue way down along around a bend, and there's a garage door on the left.
Guys name is Hasan, not sure if I'm allowed post the phone number, it's a mobile?

    +1.

I used to use them quite a lot (daily) and I have to say I can't say a bad word about them - pleasant, friendly, accommodating and reasonable prices.
