    Something I have been thinking about lately is which county has lost the most All-Ireland finals in hurling and which county has lost the most finals in football. Anybody have any idea of the answer to either?

    If somebody is willing to do the counting :)

    On a side note, absolutely shocking to see they can't even update the list with finals that took place over 7 months ago.

    That GAA website is terrible! Hoganstand is streets ahead in my opinion!

    To answer the original question;

    Kilkenny have actually lost more All-Ireland finals than anyone else, but that is mainly by virtue of the fact they have appeared in more than anyone else.

    Kilkenny; Won-31, Lost-24.

    Next up are Cork with 30 wins and 18 defeats.

    Worst record probably goes to Galway; won 4 and lost 17!!

    In Football;

    For the same reason as Kilkenny, the team who has lost the most football finals is Kerry, having won 35 and lost 18. But a 2:1 win ratio in finals is pretty impressive.

    Dublin and Galway have both lost 13 each (but Dublin won 22 compared to Galways 9).

    Cork on the other hand are probably the team with the worst record in finals, with 6 wins and 15 defeats in finals.

    Well Cork have lost more AI finals combined but....y'know, they do have 36 All-Irelands :pac:

    Winning only 4 of 21 All Irelands finals though :eek:

    Well, we have a good record in the club hurling championship at least. After Portumnas win I think Galway clubs (combined) top the leader board in the club hurling championship to date. :D

    Mayo 3-9

    I remember hearing that Mayo went through a patch where they lost something like twenty finals in a row at all age levels pretty recently. Not 100% convinced of it's truth but I do remember they had a very poor run for a while. Can anyone confirm this?

    Although having seen their pretty decent performance against Kerry in Tralee at the weekend they might be a bit of a surprise package come the Championship.

    kerry have a 100% record in hurling finals there team to back if they ever get there again :D

    Some interesting ones there...Galway Hurling record is shocking must say..:eek:

    Cork in football is noting great either.. They really should have more then 6 all-irelands .. that 1973 team should have won many more then 1 AI
