You can get xenon look bulbs which just have a blue tint to them , giving a whiter beam.

I'd say the OP is talking about those aftermarket halogen bulbs with the filter on them that gives off a bright blue light effect.

Xenons, well worth the extra cost over std. bulbs. Ideally go for the H.I.D. kit but cost maybe an issue at €250-400.

Edit: Replacement Xenons ''Brilliant White'' are about €18 a pair compaired to €10 for std. halogen bulbs. Try your local Motor Factors of those plonkers at Halfords.

This craze for bluish white lights is a bit misdirected. In any adverse weather conditions involving moisture in the air - rain, fog mist etc - bluish lights actually reduce visibility due to the glare of back-scatter from the water droplets in the air.

A yellowish tinted light will actually improve driver visibility in poor weather, not to mention be less of glare hazard for other motorists.

So in this country in particular, those bright bluish HIDs are probably an actual hinderance to night driving.
