SOCOM: what do you think.....?

Socom is here at last and despite the advice i recieved on this forum, i went and bought the damn thing. 30 euros wasnt bad i thought. so i slapped it on and discovered you can only play it online? not a problem for me but i feel sorry for the poor sod with no internet. so after pissin about with all the options and stuff i played a couple of games and i have to say i was impressed. i mean this game got a real bashing when i posted about the hold up of its release in europe. but im pleased to say its pretty good. so much so iv set up a clan (CIB) crazy irish b******s. i got it in smyths 29.99 or 49.99 with the microphone. gamestop were charging 39.99 without the mike. bloody rip off merchants....!

Is it strictly multiplayer because i was in gamestop today and they onlY had a multiplayer version of it!!!

Got this too mainly because I wanted to get the mic. Thought getting the bundle for €50 was better value than paying €40 for the mic on its own.
Anyways, I'm not massively impressed by the game. Graphically, its only slightly better than PS2 graphics and theres something about the game thats just a bit... boring.
The main issue I've had since getting it was a problem I've been having with the mic. When pairing it via USB (to get access to the HQ mode etc etc) the volumeof the mic is really low and only by pairing it via bluetooth discovery mode was I able to get the mic volume to reach a decent level but of course the trade off is that you don't get the HQ mode and so the clarity of the speech is impaired. Ive had it since November and it's my fave online shooter on the PS3 so far, Ive been a fan of Socom so I reckon thats why I like it. Ive baught about 5 games since getting it but still I find Socom back in

I got it in from the US ages ago for 35 i think it was as like every one else i just got it for the headset but i enjoyed the game as well if you are looking for a mindless run and gun game like COD4 then you wont enjoy it, its a squad based game you have to work together if you run off on your own you will get killed easily. you need to find 3 or 4 others to join up with in a team and talk to each other.

I played one game where we covered each other, one would check around a corner if it was clear he would tell us we would one by one make the dash for cover. We got up onto a roof top and covered all access points and cleaned up as the other team just kept running off on ther own so we just sat there picking them off.

I must get back into it once i finish resi 5

A decent price but you don't get the headset.

I imported this from Canada when it was first released just so I could get the headset. It was a great deal due to the currency exchange rate.

I played the game once but wasn't immediately impressed. I was side-tracked then by Resistance 2 and now by Killzone 2. I will go back and give SOCOM a chance but not for a while.

Sounds like a good price , though i want the mike with it , so 39.99 doesn't seem to bad

i played it the 1st night it came out with friends who absolutely love it but personally i dont like it. i didnt really like the various game modes, the graphics are not that good and didnt like the weapons.... but like i say i know of friends that think its brill and they were all big socom fans anyways. if u liked the game chances are u will love it.

Ye right on evil willie....! kick them little Yankee's into touch. its all a bit of fun right? As i was saying i think this game is good but as the rev kitchen was saying its a tactical game. Not your typical cod "need to be on speed just to keep up" type of game. I only set up a clan so i could get the free gun so why not get some like minded people and have a bit of craic....!
