Hi guys I would grateful for some help. I was in a car accident last year and sustained some injuries from it. I sent my case to the piab and attended a doctors examination which the piab arranged for me to attend. Now this was in December and they haven't heard back from him and its now March. Does anyone know how long it takes to write up his findings from my visit to him and to send it? Is 4 months normal time? Also does anyone have any dealings with the piab and if so how long dos it take to process the claim I know it does say 9 months to. I just want this settled.

    Tks

PIAB are meant to process your claim within 9 months from the date of receipt - but not that the assessment they give your claim may not be accepted by the other party or you and they you will have to bring a case to court and you should employ a solicitor to do so

Cammy did you have a medical yourself for your side?

If you didnt you are at a disadvantage insofar as PIAB are only relying on a medical from a doctor/consultant they appointed.

Also are all your 'specials' thats out of pocket expenses incurred by you fully and properly applied for and vouched?

Doctors can be slow in furnishing their reports so it's difficult to say but certainly an Assessment will be issued in within a few months from now.
Sure give them a call and ask.

Hi McCrack tks for your reply. I have had many doctors appointments from my end and was taken to hospital that night to a and e to have my injuries examined. I have sent to the piab all my out of pocket expenses and because I was still having pain I was asked to have a medical examination from the piab panel. I don't want to hassle them as they do say 6-9months but just wondering why doc's report has taken so long. Maybe he is busy.

I appreciate that you would of attended doctors for your injuries but I was really asking did you attended any for the purposes of preparing a medical-legal? If the only one you did attend was one arranged for the purposes of PIAB themselves I would say you havent put your best foot forward so to speak.

If youre not professionally represented (I'm assuming youre not) dont be hesitant in ringing PIAB and asking them as many Q's you need answering.

And yes some quacks are very very slow in writing up their reports.

Hi McCrack, Yes I had a doctors examinations prior to myself logging my piab. I had to go and get a medical done with my doctor. I haven't got a solictor as it will cost me to do so through the piab. So I just filed my case through piab so they act on my behalf so to speak. I will leave it a couple of months then phone them to find out the process.
