Cleaning acrylic headlight lenses

Any idea what I should use to clean my headlight lenses? They are acrylic not glass so not sure what to use on them. I tried the old elbow grease to no avail. It's hard to see from the photo but there appears to be a layer of gunk on them which could be a waxen substance from the last car wash I got although it wont budge. My NCT is coming up next week so I want to sort this out in case it interferes with the alignment test etc.

Or 3000 wet&dry sand paper with soap and water.

    1. Rub two sheets of 3000 w&d against one another for a couple mins.

    2. Small basin/lunch box etc half filled with water plus half of bar of soap,
    mix with water.

    3. Apply water to s/paper and work over h/lamp lens making sure to always keep s/paper wet.

Polish off with normal car polish.
