Just to follow on from the news that Steeler's owner Mr Rooney could be nominated Ambassador to Ireland, which ultimately could lead to a Steeler game in Ireland, my question is two fold....

    1. Which two teams would you like to see in Croke Park?
    2. Who would win and why?

 Surely your confusing the Steelers with the Patriots there, for this Decades Dynasty

Patriots have more Super Bowls, more Super Bowl appearences, more Playoff Wins, more games won, more records broken...and so on.

Patriots V Steelers in Croker to decide whos the 00's Dynasty....Prediction Patriots 35 Steelers 0 :p

    This decade's dynasty: Patriots.

    Croke Park game:

    Steelers vs. Ravens

    or

Patriots vs. anyone, including Steelers or Ravens.

    This decade is not over.......

We all know that and right now your statement is still false as THIS decades dynasty as in present is clearly the Patriots. Not that I care about all this dynastly talk as its a fruitless argument but you are not the first Steelers fan to make silly comments about this decades dynasty yada yada.

Oh and to top it off the steelers wont win another bowl in this decade but Im sure the pats will. And before anyone asks yes im an arrogant pr*ck anyone who knows will tell you so. But on this account im backing up my arrogance with the fact it looks like we have a team again this year that can get the job done :D:D:D:D:D Rant over

Thats a pretty big leap. its not like Mr Roney wasn't heavily involved in irish affairs beforehand.

There's a huge difference between getting the Steelers to play an American Bowl game here and them playing a regular season game in Dublin

Dodge - 4 years ago, no-one thought a regular season game would be played outside of the USA and look at it now. 1 game per year over the last 2 years with a possibily of 2 being played at wembley this year.
NFL is a business and like all business' in the current climate they are looking to expand their market base. It was only 2 days ago that F1 announced radical changes to their drivers chamionships standings in order to try and recruit new viewers and welcome older slightly dejected viewers. And in Baseball, which is the 'past-time of a nation' in America (who are supposedly the best team in the world) ,America only made it to the 3rd & 4th playoff match.
So, its not to wide of the mark to suggest that NFL will look outside the 51 states to grew its worldwide appeal.

Now to Tallaghtoutlaws ;)..... You say that the Steelers won't win another superbowl in this decade and that the patriots will. So seeing as how there is only one more year left in this decade I can take it that you are already predicting a Patriots ring.... Talking out yer ring more like :D:D:D

If the steelers win in 09 that makes it 3 each since you won in 2001.....
and btw - Tom Brady wont be the quarter in 09 he was in your 16-0 season in 2007 which ultimately counted for f**K all as good old failed gunman Plaxico reached out to pull in Eli's floater...
Oh I never laughed so much... That said, I like the Pats but you wont win your division let alone the superbowl

    Ta Ra

Even if ye win the Super Bowl next year, ye will still have less Super Bowl appearences, less playoff wins, less regular season games won, less records broken, etc.

If we did win it this year, I will concede that between 2000 & 2009 The Pats have had a superior statisical record.....

    HOWEVER

It would also give us 7 against your 3 Superbowl rings.... Which as any true football fan would tell ya.... Its the amouont of rings that count

But we are talking about THIS decade

And in fairness the Steelers wont do it again this year. Even if the Pats don't the Steelers definitely wont. If you were a betting man you would quicker stick you money on the Patriots than the Steelers. Oh and by the way the 16-0 season most fans would admit we blew it. We were **** in the Bowl simple as and the Giants deserved it more. I can tell you the Patriots wont make that same mistake twice.

The market in Ireland is tiny. 4 million people is really, really tiny in US terms. Croke park doesn't have anywhere near the level of corporate seats as US stadiums, or Wembley or any of the other top, top class european stadiums do

Oh and the international games were well mooted over 4 years ago...

I'd like to see Steelers vs Giants but the Giants already had their chance at an International Series game so it would probably have to be a team that hasn't played or will play a regular season game outside the US. That leaves 23 teams who could face the Steelers.

    ...the 51 states...

    51?

You, mate, are talking out your Ta Raa.

Steelers-Packers for Croker. The reigning Champs against next season's champs. What could be more mouthwatering? :D

RE:51 - I was being facetious, obviously lost on some more than most....

However, I must continue to speak out of my ta ra and say that the Steelers have everything in place to with the division and make it to Superbowl XLIV wjether victorious or not.

I think the Ravens with go close too...

But the Packers??? Come on.... fan or not, you have to admit you are a little bit away from that kind of season

My first live NFL experience was the Bears and Steelers preseason game at Croke back in 97.

    Packers - Bears.

Just would like to go to a game and see the Packers beat the Bears, that's all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

Packers - Bears would be nice but we're never going to get a division game over here, especially those two teams. Home games are precious in the NFL and division home games are even more precious. The Bills did it last year but they only travelled across the border though that was still a bad idea from their perspective.

Took the words right out of my mouth. If there was a regular season game at Croke Park (which there won't be) it would be NFC v AFC.
Packers would be immense and the Steelers being the best in the business at the moment would make it a match worth seeing.
