Remove candle smoke from internal walls

Anyone know the best way to remove candle smoke stains from an internal wall? The wall has a matt paint finish. Preferably I'd like to clean without having to repaint but with the matt finish this is probably impossible. Alternatively, clean and repaint (without stains leaking through the new paint). Any advice greatly appreciated.

Try Sugar Soap and a solid sponge available from any paint shop.
You'll need two goes at it.

yep sugar soap is the way to go but it will leave a slight shiny finish on the wall like its been rubbed with fine sandpaper so its out with the roller im afraid.

Sounds like it's sugar soap, elbow grease and repaint then. Thanks for the tips.
