Cineworld have raised their prices for standard tickets here in Ireland to euro 10.40, its a ridiculous price to pay especially considering the current climate when the price of everything else is falling. I see in the UK the price of both standard tickets and the unlimited cardholder rates are increasing in April, no doubt unlimited cardholders here in Ireland will be victimised too, has anyone got any notification yet?

by the traffic they get i imagine they can support it but jesus i think it hits 20 euro for a ticket, regular popcorn and coke last time i checked with this increase. Are they trying to push people onto the cineworld card? either way get the uk card and it costs 155 odd euro at todays exchange rate.

It's expensive but not surprising from a business point of view. With increased footfall during recessions Cinema's plan to make hay.

Yeah anytime I've been to the cinema recently has been pretty mad crowds. Cineworld are certainly overpriced though. As much as I like the cinema (despite the cold multiplex vibe) I find myself going less and less, instead going to IMC or the other somewhat cheaper alternatives. I'm just glad I have another few months before my student card runs out :pac:

I dont really go to the cinema anymore unless Im dragged or I really want to see a film plays to a large audience. My home setup is better.

The student rate went up to €8 a while ago. When I first got charged that I thought I was getting charged the adult rate by mistake! I haven't been to the cinema since October and seeing as though I don't have a student card anymore, I'm definetly not going now.

student rate has gone up 30cent on both rates (from €6.70 to €7 before 6 on weekdays and €8 to €8.30 after 6 on weekdays and on weekends).

Unlimited card seems unaffected. It does seem like they really wanna get people on the unlimited.

I got lucky and managed to get a 12month subscription on unlimited for just under €110 on the english subscription.

Yeah it's hard to have sympathy for the cinema industry whining when they do things like this. I have no qualms whatsoever not going to the cinema - unless it really is worth it on a big screen eg Dark Knight.

I was told the prices were gonna be reduced, so It came as quite a shock to me when they were increased. I can honestly say the price hike has not affected people turning up.

Cinemas have always increased their prices at the start of the year every year. I remember when I worked in UCI back when Batman and Robin and The Lost World came out, it was IR£4.50 for an adult ticket

Glad I got my unlimited card now.. I go to the cinema a ridiculous amount of the time and there's no way I could afford 8 euro a pop on a student card.

If anyone does go a fair bit it's worth getting the unlimited card, especially from the UK site as it's significantly cheaper :)
