Tax Status - employed in Dublin, living in North

    Hello,

I'm currently living and working in Dublin and paying my taxes etc in the Republic. I'm from the north though and was wondering what would my tax situation be if I moved back to the north and lived there, but continued to work for the same employer in Dublin?

My work situation allows me to work remotely so technically, I don't have to be physically present in the office in Dublin.

What I am wondering though is what would my liability be regarding tax? I'm guessing our friends at the Revenue would have kittens at the thought of me working in the republic and not paying tax. However I don't know what happens then regarding HM Customs & Revenue in the UK as I'd be living and "working" in the North as I would be physically present here.

Is this a scenario where double tax would be applied? There's another Irish guy on my team who is actually based in Spain and who works remotely and as far as I know, he just pays his taxes in Spain.

I also don't know how it would work out with salary seeing I'd be living in the north and the currency is sterling. I doubt the agency would want to transfer the money into my sterling bank account in the north. Although I guess it could still just be transferred into my existing account in Dublin which is euro's.

Anyway this is all just theory, but I'm guessing there must be someone else on here who is employed in Dublin but who works remotely and is based outside the 26 counties.

    Cheers.
