Sky's sales tactics

I've just had a Sky salesperson call to my door. I have zero interest in getting Sky (I'll eventually be installing Freesat) and I told him as much, and he asked me was I with NTL. I told him I was, and he asked was it analogue or digital, so I told him it was analogue.

Then he came out with this gem: "You know all the analogue is being phased out this year and you're going to have to upgrade to digital?"

Now am I wrong, or is this complete BS? I was under the impression that:

    1) RTE's analogue services are not being phased out until 2012.
    2) A DTT service will be launched this year to replace it.
    3) NTL is a private company and is under no obligation to phase out its own analogue service until it sees fit.

I started pointing this out to him and he started talking about Sky being 50c cheaper than NTL. So I pulled him up on it, pointed the rest of it out to him and said that Sky shouldn't be sending people out to spread misinformation.

I got pretty angry with him, and I'd feel bad if I'm actually wrong on this, so I just wanted to make sure! :o But if I am right, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had Sky's people tell them this? Has anyone complained?

    1) Yes
    2) Yes (As far as I know)
    3) NTL/Chorus AKA UPC have started upgrading their services inorder to receive a digital signal.
