Is the Terminator available in blu ray ? (r2)

I see T2 and T3 are ... but what about the original ?

    Thanks

PS - any good sites for blu ray news ? Region 2 releases ?

I found a few but what do people here trust ?

    Thanks

Depends on the studio but most are. Terminator 1 is region free.

It's a pretty poor transfer AFAIK.

Actually.. seems to be a decent transfer.

Some sites report the video transfer isn't great but HighDefDigest are normally pretty accurate.

I could be mistaken but I think there was 2 releases on blu-ray, one very early on which was a poor transfer, and then a much better one done after.

I'm actually very hesitant to get any older films on Bluray because of the transfers. I picked up Robocop on Bluray pretty cheap but it looked absolutely horrendous, and from a couple of other films I've seen, I think the studios are often doing a very bad job re-releasing the older films.

One example of an old film being execeptional on blu ray is Zulu which was filmed in 70mm. Anybody who remembers this film will remember it for its stunning cinematography, can't say the same for The Terminator.

Yeah, Zulu looks great - the terminator looks ok - its mostly shot at night and on low grade film stock - so not much they can do probably with the transfer most of these films are scanned at 4k and downscaled to 1080 so something shot in 70mm is going to look great.

Predator looks pretty bad as well on blureay where as Starship Troopers is jaw dropping in the version I have.

Though you cant beat seeing them on a 70mm projector like Lawrence of Arabia a few years back in the Savoy
