Can't remove the door lock barrel on Mk IV Golf

    Hey Guys
Trying to do a repair to the barrel and the first thing i need to do is remove the barrel from the door. I have the haynes manual and am unscrewing the release screw (reaching the stop and all) but when i try to wiggle the barrel out of the door it has no interest in budging!

Anyone any ideas or experience of this???

    Thanks

I though there was a screw inside the door that you had to slowly loosen to allow the barrel to come out. If you loosen it too much it will fall out into the door.

Do a search for delocking on uk-mkivs.net and you should find some detailed instructions on getting the barrel out

Great resource which answered my question thanks VP.
Was able to get it out, i hadn't turned it enough was nervous of losing parts into the door.

The door card is very easy to take off anyway. Do you mind me asking where you got the new barrel and the cost of it? Mine is gone as well, need to order soon. Got a quote of 90 yo-yo's from a main dealer just for the part.
