Do I type in eircom before the few digits. any please. I use Microsoft Outlook

You can check if you have the correct username/password by going onto the eircom site (www.eircom.net) and then choosing the my email tab
enter your username the @eircom.net bit is preset
    Enter your password.

It should then open your email account where you can read your mail send messages etc. If it doesn't then either the username or password is incorrect.

In Outlook the username is username@eircom.net i.e. catandmouse@eircom.net the password is whatever you set up when signing up for your eircom email account

THIS IS MY QUERY. WHAT PASSWORD DO YOU MEAN. I forget when i set up my acount but have wrote a password eircom gave me when i was setting up the computer. Can't remember what it was for. it says Eircom2541224 (would this be the Network Password outlook is asking for?)

that sounds like your broadband router password, which is different

there is probably a password reset on the eircom site but i don't use eircom so i'm not familar with the process. you might have security questions asked (set on email setup) to reset the password

That has been a fantastic help. I went into eircom mail and there it came up with all my messages. So, i have not lost my stuff. But outlook i was using and would like to keep using it but in the meantime i okay:)

if you can login to eircom with your email address and password then use the same for outlook

some of your other settings may be incorrect if it still fails

Eircom 2541 224 sound like the wireless SSID for your router? Maybe it was the Wireless Encryption Password (WEP) your were given that time.

Your email password would be a completely separate password.
Ring the Email Password Department in Eircom at 1530 277 100 if you need to get it again.
