Sky+ Box optical out problem

My Sky+ box is connected to my Amp via an optical cable an recently it has stop working properly. Its happened twice now when the Sky+ box is turned on and no sound comes out through the amp. A quick test of the amp showed it was a Sky+ issue, I reset the box and the sound came back, has anybody any ideas on whats causing…
