At the moment i have SE g900 and a standard meteor sim card.

What i would like to do is a have the meteor payg broadbad for use every now and again when im not at home or dont have access to the net.

Is it possible to buy a usb modem somewhere else and just buy a metoer sim?
Can i use my phone as a modem and use the broadband data plan?

    Are there any other options?

Just looking for the cheapest way of doing this only need access to the net maybe once or twice a month so payg only and pref metoer.

Meteor is only new to the market, and their coverage is sparse, so it's unlikely that many people have the answers you need.

You can buy modems on eBay, but you'll need to make sure it's unlocked. As for using a phone as modem, you'll need to check with Meteor to see if they allow this.

Few 3G phones support HSDPA. Most are limited to 345kbps. Some older phones really use serial and the USB adaptor is in the cable, so are limited to 115kbps.

Often Bluetooth is not very fast. Joiku software works on some smart phones to turn them into WiFi to 3G bridge "hotspot".

You need at least a EDGE/3G phone that has real USB and supports modem mode. Not all do. The USA calls this a "tethered" phone.

You can't use the phone for voice calls or receive voice calls with most phones when using them as a Modem. You are better with a dedicated EDGE/3G/HSDPA Modem. Make sure it is unlocked or for the LOCAL version of the Operator you want (an O2 UK model likely won't work with an Irish O2 sim), and is really for the European market. Especally avoid buying models from or intended for Asian and USA markets.

Your best bet is to drop into a Meteor store; Or give them a ring.

Inevitabily; That is what you will have to do anyways.
