I was just quoted €540 to have a new tow-bar fitted on a 05 Peugeot 407. Surely someone is trying to rip me off here. They put the excessive cost down to technical wiring costs when i bauked at the figure...

Is this reasonable or am i right in thinking that this is a bit much?

Have you tried phoning other towbar fitters? I was pricing one recently for a friend, and to be honest, it wasn't a million miles away from what you were quoted.

I've gotten a few tow bars fitted to different yokes the last few months. The most expensive was €550, that was for a RR Sport, and it was the removable version.

We had a tow bar fitted to an Opel Movano not too long ago - it was around the €350 mark.

I know there are cars out there that are akward to fit tow bars to, i dont know if the 407 is one.

Where are you getting it done?

It'll depend on the make of towbar, how long and how complicated it is to fit, whether they need to cut the bumper etc.

It doesn't sound too far off what I've paid tbh, but like Ned says, phone around and see what the going rate is.
