Yes, how did you find that out? Could've sworn part of the reason we pay more than the Brits is because we pay 21.5% VAT as opposed to their usual 17.5% rate. And would our bills not have fallen when their VAT was reduced from 17.5% to 15%?

    I smell bull****.

They did fall, by 50c for anyone with no premium packs, not sure how much for others.

See under VAT they mention "VAT change" but don't bother to mention it's UK VAT.

Sky are a UK company that broadcast from the UK (well sort of). Im not sure how they get away with providing a service to Ireland (Republic) & not be registered here as an Irish company. I know there is a lot involved in this and a lot of it i dont understand? But the way i look at it if a foreign TV provider is allowed to broadcast and be received in the Irish republic, why cant we legally go out & purchase a subscription from another EU state?

This is one thing that i have always wondered about. Im not sure if any money at all comes back to Ireland from Sky subs. I think that RTE get some sort of commision or a free ride on the sky epg for providing their broadcasting, but then again, The Irish public are paying for RTE/TV3 etc to be on sky with the minimum sub needed to receive them!
