    Hi,

Just wondering has anyone had any experience doing an online TEFL course, are they any good and are they just as recognised as doing it the old fashioned way. Also if anyone could recommend a good website for it.

    Cheers

    Hi,

only found this thread now, hope you will still read this.

I started an online TEFL course a couple of weeks ago with i-to-i. If it is any good really depends on what type of learner you are. If you learn better in a group a weekend presence course will be better for you. But I think the online course is ok. I have a tutor to whom I submit my tasks to and he then sends them back corrected. So there is feedback on everything you do and if you're not good enough the tutor will ask you to redo the task to make sure that you have fully understood what it is about.

As for the recognition: You get a certificate and in the forum a lot of people report of their jobs they got with this. However, if you want to teach in an official school, the certificate is often insufficient as a university degree is required. But if you plan to teach in a private language school there should be no problem with the recognition as far as I know.

    Good luck
    :)
