Couldn't find a thread on this so I thought I'd start one...

Watched it today. Thought it was very good. Well acted with some good twists. Held me interest through-out. Could have done with more character-develolpment perhaps.

    Anyone else see it?

Which one? There's two recent Irish-filmed prison movies called The Escapist - one stars Johnny Miller and the other Brian Cox.

I saw the one with Brian Cox a few months back, if that's the one you're talking about.. I thought it was pretty dull. The constant cuts back and forth were pretty distracting and unnecessary,
and that ending twist was daft and ridiculous.

Yeah the Brian Cox one was ****e. I actually thought Cox was poor in it. Should have had Lewis in it more.

Well watch the Johnny Miller one then - really good movie - his wife gets killed and the criminals get sent to prison - Miller goes after them.

I was talking bout the Brian Cox one. I thought it was pretty good, and judging by the cover of the DVD I'm not the only one!

Whats the story with the film with Jonny Miller in it? I've never heard of it

It's out on DVD - was filmed in Dublin a few years ago. His wife gets killed by a gang and they get sent to jail on an island. Miller can't get over his grief and commits a crime, gets sent to various jails and eventually arrives at the jail holding the killers of his wife. Far better than the flashy Brian Cox version.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago, good film for sure!

    Very enjoyable.

I guess the Miller one died a death at the box office, did it? How did Cox's version get away with nicking the film's title?

I really liked the Brian Cox one. Saw it as the surprise film at the film fest a few years ago. Thought it had a great feeling of an old 70's style prison flick. The twist was ok but the build up and some of the tension was great. It does seem to have divided audiences though.
