I'm at an absolute loss to understand why someone would need to do the matric exams but still

The college calender has all the answers http://www.tcd.ie/calendar/assets/pdf/admission_requirements.pdf last two pages gives you all the info

Im sorry if im being nosey asking this. But why exactly are you sitting the matric exam. I didnt even know it still exsisted

I'm doing it because it's counted as a higher subject for entry to trinity.

Im sorry, Im still a bit confused. When you say it counts as a higher subject. Does that mean you get awarded points for it. Or is there a bursary conntected with it, or some other award.

It's counted as a subject for cao purposes. So if you get say 73% in it trinity count it as 75 cao points. It'll be handy if I do well in it because I can count it instead of o level maths.

Wow, I never knew that. Do you know if many people sit the exam ? I wonder why its just geology and divinity, are the past papers avaliable online.

I don't think many people know about it, my career guidance teacher didn't anyway. I don't know of any past papers for it anywhere.

Dont forget to post after you have sat it and let everyone know how you got on, and if there were many people there. Can I ask how did you find out about it ?

As far as I'm aware they do it in The High School. (See here).

Would you know if it's doable after cramming? I wouldn't mind doing this since it sounds like there's nothing to lose. How do you apply?

Hi, I was just wondering how you got on. Was there many people also siting the paper. Does anyone know why its just religion and geology and say not science and english

They also offer geology as a full subject in St. Columba's - my boyfriend went to school there, and he took the subject and sat the matriculation exam. Much to my amusement, his geology teacher was called Dr. Stone :pac:

There's a page about it on the school website, apparently they follow the Trinity exam syllabus - I know it is a bit late for this year's exam, but it might help people next year if they do a search on boards for it!
