Dangerous Driving

This morning on my way to work at 6.45 my boyfriend was driving on a back road with dangerous bends which we would drive everyday so would be well used to driving on this road during which a man with a lady in the car continued to flash our car which i thought was very dangerous. We pulled in thinking there was a problem with the car as i let the window down this man accused my boyfriend of being drunk which he wasnt we havent been out and have just moved house in the last 3 days. he simply told us to go home or he would call the gardai. I told him to go ahead and call them if they come down we would be only too happy to oblige a breath test No problem. He then replied im an off duty garda and im telling you if i see u driving im calling the station. i told him to go ahead thats fine he said i have your reg number and i replied thats fine i have your reg too. I found this really weird at this time of the morning. i dont think this man was a garda. Surely he would have got out of the car with ID. He wouldn't tell you to go home either if he thought you were drink driving. To be honest i think he was drunk himself. Can i report this man to the gardai??? He was down right rude and irate and i thought that flaashing at our car could have easily caused an accident.

Impersonating a Garda would be a runner.

Even more reason not to stop. Never stop for another vehicle unless you know for sure it is a police vehicle. Blue lights & two tones are a good clue if it's unmarked.

    Yes you can report this.

If you recorded his licence plate there would be a good possiblity of tracing this person. If it turns out he is a serving Garda, a lot of questions remain unanswered as to

    Why:

    1. Did he use his private vehicle to perform a stop?
    2. Didn't he show you ID.
    3. Didn't he request a marked car to perform the stop?
    4. Didn't he request a roadside breath test?
    5. Did he let you drive on if he believed you were under the influence?

If he wasn't a Garda, then impersonating one might fit the bill.
