What is, approximately, the safest amount you can dye your hair? I've been getting white hairs since I was 17 and my hair grows really quickly. Plus, I love getting my hair coloured. I've been alerted to the possible dangers though and I use touch-up kits in between colours, but I still wonder whether I'm getting it done too often.

it really does depend of the condition of your hair and how you look after it. What products you use how much heat you use on your hair ect ect

If your just touching up your roots then your only colouring new virgin hair so thats fine, If you find that your mid lengths and ends are fading ( read the instruction cause they are all different) then you just need to comb through the rest of your hair whatever time the instruction tel you to.

For example: Mid lengh and ends are just a little bit faded. Instruction time is 35mins. Apply colour to roots and then 10-15 mins before development time is up you can comb through the rest of your hair. And then wash off. Also some would advise to mix any left over colour with luke warm water an then apply to the rest of your hair for the remaining 10-15 mins.

If you use products designed for colour treated hair and get treatments you can really help to keep your hair in good condition. Heat protection products are also a must if your blowdrying or straightening you hair quite often. Regular trim will also improve the appearance of your hair also.

Thanks jackira. I actually should have said I'm focusing more on the dangers of exposure to chemicals (studies show cancer/hair dye links), not so much how it will affect the condition of my hair. I'm lucky enough to have hair that is in very good condition. It's black and I get it coloured jet-black - just the roots touched up really.
