    Hi,

Hope you can help, or direct me in the right direction.
I have an 05 Peugeot 307 1.6 diesel. Recently when accelerating from idle, or just revving the engine when parked, I have noticed that there is now a noticeable whirrring noise from the engine bay. I have ruled it out as the turbo as that spins down before the whirr dies down.
A quick google on it suggest that it is an issue starting with the flywheel, so I wanted to ask here for opinions on this, or if anyone has come across this with their car in the past?

The car is still under the 12 months warranty from where I got it, so I will be contacting them to see what they have to say also.

It could also be the sprockets or pulleys. A mechanic with a stethoscope should be able to find the culprit quickly.

Dose it increase as you accelerate? I.e dose it get louder/higher pitch when you accelerate?

know someone who had the same problem in a not very old mondeo. Yes it was the fly wheel. Don't know the technical stuff but it will keep going until it actually shears something, and it's not cheap to put right. apparently it will keep happening.
