I wouldn't be gettin too carried away just yet!! Fergie's stated aim is just not to get relegated this season. Still, nice to see the team putting a few results together. I think if we even got to a Connacht final this year, it would be good progress. Even without that, a decent run in the qualifiers would be a good first season for the new set up. U21s could be our main reason to cheer this year, even if Kerry's hammering by Cork at the weekend puts our recent challenge match win over the Kingdom in a new light.

From what I saw of Roscommon last year I would not hold my breath. Ye need to be patient. That was a good minor side from 2 years ago but to regain any status you will need to be contesting more underage finals. Talking to lad who play club football in Roscommon and a man who's son packed it in because of the lack of organisation and they all tell me not enough work being done at Juvenile level. Senior title are won at juvenile level by doing a lot of good coaching.

Roscommon my favourite connacht side for years. Meet the great Gerry O'Malley regularly

i really thought division 3 was going to be a huge banana skin this year. be interesting to see how rossies do against down. but so far so good, including a great run in the fbd. at least there is a bit of realistic optimism back in the jersey, well done fergie.

and what a beating tipp gave roscommon, showed how poor the roscommon defence was a big wake up call, tipp totally dominated after a good opening 7-8 mins from ros
