I have been on O2 for over a year and they are still charging me €30 a month. I understand that they charge new customers €20 for the same service.

As I am out of contract can I simply cancel my service and sign up again to get he lower rate? Has anyone managed to get the new rate?

    Thanks in advance.

contact O2 by phone and see what they can do for you? If you have been a heavy user, (i.e. exceeding the 10gb on a regular basis) and haven't been charged for excess use then your probably better on the plan your on. On the new plan's for 20 a month they will enforce the download limit more.

Still on the 30Euro month plan myself and i'm with them well over a year! Tied myself into a new 12month contract with them by upgrading my modem recently.

    Regards,
    J.

Can you upgrade the modem? And how much did that cost?

was considering just reknewing my contract with them my self to get the saving, but noticed they have also decereased the monthly limit from 10 to 7.5Gbs, last month i used over 9Gbs compared to the usual 6 or 7, so gonna monitor my usage for the nest couple of months before making a decision

In stores only or maybe over the phone. No facility online last time i check.

I had two upgrades due one on each of my numbers. Could have got a new phone for free or upgrade my modem for 49euro by combing them!

    regards,
    J.

Note: the hauwei(220) can be flashed with firmware to get better download speeds, the only reason I upgrade the modem was to get better upload speeds!

So how much did you pay in the end for the modem?

O2 have too many tariff options. They ones with the 10G limit are 18 month contracts now too. I'm sticking with my 30 a month, as changing is not worth it, IMO.

Changing your modem is unlikely to do anything for you either, unless your current modem is broken or something. The newer modems will allow for the higher speed HSUPA, I believe, but I don't think they're currently offering anything over 7.6Mbps. I already get 7.6M on my E220 in some places.

Well my modem is acting up. I need to borrow one from a friend to reinstall my drivers.

Also o2 seem to be very flexible with going over the limit.

Only to a degree though. A couple of times seems to be the limit of their patience, and you get a warning then.

I have gone over quite a few times now (never over 12GB) and have never received a warning.

find they can be very hit and miss with their warnings, i received a warning txts once half way through the month for being at 4Gbs. was at almost 9Gbs last month with over a week to go and heard nothing
