Before i start i know this was stupid and dangerous shouldnt hav done it ect so i dont really want a lecture from anyone but here is my prob. i overtook a car that was doing the speed limit on a continous white line on a straight stretch of road. found out after that this was actually the local garda sargent in his private car. the bloke was pretty pissed and i have been told that he was driving around the village looking for my silver van. This happened nearly a week ago and he didnt get my reg. What should i do?

You can get done for anything fun on the roads, Because if you're having 'fun', you might run over a squirrel.

Ignoring the useless high horse replies that typify Boards:

Own up, based on some rumour and hearsay? Dont bother, if he wanted to catch you, he could have done it then and there. Your white van isnt that fast. Not even that much he can do after the fact other than bollock you out of it.

The sargent if it was him would have your reg and be at your house within an hour of said incident, he hasn't got your details so your grand. Treat it as a lessson and wise up in future :D

You consider overtaking on a continuous white line to be fun? You should get out more.

+1 Richard Kimball you are not.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago.
I'd started to overtake on a broken but it turned into a continuous
    almost straight away.

The bloke was an off-duty Garda.
Next day I'd the local Gardaí out to my house on about dangerous driving,
    speeding, etc.

I found rand the fella I'd overtaken, apologised and said I was
normally so careful on the roads, etc, etc.
That was the end of it.

Just try to find a Pay N' Spray shop.
It costs $100 but when you come out you're vehicle will be a new colour
and all your Wanted Stars will be gone.

    -Problem solved...

Lol, sometimes I wish there was one near me. ;)

OP, what are you looking for here? Your question is answered, you cant "get done" for it, but you will have the local fuzz on the lookout for you for the forseeable future. Thats it..!?

For all you know youve ran Garda off the road before and just didnt have the people dots connected to them to hear they were pissed off.
