    I have the Dboys M4 CQB MK18mod0 BI-3981 -
    http://www.hitguns.com/Dboy-M4-CQB-RIS-Carbine-Full-Metal-Body-AEG-p/bi-3981m.htm

I am looking to find out how to take off the orange flash hider. I took out the small allen key on the bottom of the orange flash hider and tried to turn it but ended up tear off the front plastic orange tips instead of turning the whole hider off.. So the only thing left is the orange plastic that I think is covering the threaded barrel which I REALLY NEED so i can throw on my noveski or TM tracer. So if anyone can help me with this it will be greatly appreciated.

and before you spam me about how its illegal to take off the flash hider, in my state the flash hider is onnly needed to transport and sell, which i am doing nither and im not stupid enough to go around my neighborhood shooting in the woods and what not. Thanks.

You've got the small allen screw ok but I assume you are turning it the correct way - it's the opposite direction to what you'd expect... screws off clockwise I'm sure.

all the dboys have a reverse thread on them so you have to turn the opposite to what you'd normally turn it!

wow the stupid thing wont come off. i have turned it clockwise first, after taking out the screw and just broke off the tips of the flash hider, i think they just super glued the crap out of it which makes absolutely no sense what so ever. this is crap. I have tried moving it so much i think im breaking off my RIS and inner barrel cause the hop up unit is moving and wont hold the mag in if i turn it. im stating to hate this gun.

grip the flash hider with a vice grips and grip the barrel with another vice grips (wrap some cloth around the barrel so you dont damage it) and twist the flash hider in an anticlockwise direction

no im pretty sure.. cause they had an allen screw on the bottom, and they gave me like an outter barrel with counter clock wise thread, but dont know how to get to that. i think its just glued like anything. POC

well to let you guys know its stuck on and i dont know how to get it off. been trying to turn it out with every clamp with no result but just a bite up ugly flash hider, I dont even know what if there are any threads, also the barrel is now lose, and that messes up the hop up and that mess up the feeding unit, which wont clamp the clips well. WARNING THIS GUN STINKS.. THANKS ALOT FOR CRAP DBOYS..

It's not that the gun "stinks" because there's barrel wobble. I assume you removed the barrel from the body before attempting to put it in a clamp or attacking it with tools?

Orange flash hiders are glued on by federal law in the US. It's not DBoys fault the hider is supposed to be irremovable. To by pass it, rather than use a clamp and brute force, use a cynoacrylite solvent to dissolve the glue. If the solvent can't penetrate enough, use a hot-knife (note: not a heated regular knife, a specific gas powered knife. They're only about 20 bucks as part of a set with a soldering iron) to gently slice the hider into quarters lengthways. This will make it easier to remove and give the solvent more working area.
Failing all of the above, replace the barrel. New ones are easily available and relatively cheap.

DBoys guns are generally rock solid, the fact that it has been incorrectly abused with a vice-grip would be the reason for the wobble. It should only be a case of tightening the delta ring to remove that.

i got a dboys and its rock solid it has yet to fail me

and btw where are you from and where did you buy the gun from?

Well i got it from hitguns, full metal also, but yea i needs alot of work, all airsoft guns needs a bit of love cause them chinese factories dont take care of them as well, unless its top brand. Cant wait to reshim and relube and all the fixings. but yes this gun kinda sucks from the lack of easy of the orange tip no matter what others say. but thanks for the help.

You know, you could have just bought it in Ireland or the UK for about the same price, and with no orange tip?

Despite what you say, DBoys are the clone armalite of choice and make up more than half of the armalites you'll see in use in this country. They rarely need more than a cleaning of the barrel before use. No need to blame the gun for your maintenance mistakes.

    here here that man

i love my m4 dboys and tbh if i was faced with a bright orange tip i would have probubly just painted it tbh
was that not the easiest thing to do?

Lucky for you as Dex said, the dboys armalites are very common, meaning parts a plenty at retailers.

Bite the bullet and bring it to your local retailer for repair, also, why didn't you just spray paint the flash hider black? Can that be done now? I gather that the gun is in rag order now.

you should be able to use the Delta ring to tighten the barrel, you did try that right?

My Dboys M4 is great really sturdy needed a couple of screws tightened up but thats it. As NakedDex said all they usually need is a good cleaning of the barrel.

I've had the same problem here. Very tight with some of the Dboys M4's on certain mags.
I've tried filing down the inside of the mag receiver but to not much avail.
Stick with the Dboys mags - their metal midcaps are very nice, and hicaps are among the most reliable I have used (or get a different AEG):p.
