Remote Control attacks Lidl cycling computer

Got the Lidl wireless computer last week, installed it, and out for a spin. Happy with 35Km and home. Later on the sofa, computer in one hand viewing results, and the tv remote in the other hand flicking channels, imagine my surprise as I see myself doing 99.9Km/Hr according to the screen on the little bu**er.

Just to confirm things, I pointed the remote control at the thing and sure enough, there I was cycling a ton from the comfort of my sofa.

Never used a wireless one before so just wondering is this normal or have I got a faulty one, or is this my just punishment for being such a cheapskate as it was only 6 Euro.

At least it will bring your average speed up :D

Yeah, I posted somewhere else about how it seems to be temperature sensitive if left outside. This all goes someway to helping explain my mysterious max speed of 80.5 kmph today.

My Garmin 705 was reporting wierdly yesterday. Every time I went over 35kph (with a tail wind) it spiked up to 100, 70 etc. I've no idea why it doesn't error-correct the wheel sensor with the GPS.

    Nothing is perfect.

It's the other way around, it uses GPS exclusively for speed and only uses the wheel sensor when it loses the satellite signal (e.g. indoors or in a tunnel.) The altimeter on my own one has gone, I was cycling up "flat" hills during the week (felt very tough for the 0% gradient my Garmin reported) only to suddenly hit a 450% incline. Back to Garmin it goes.

    Something similar happened to mine.
Left it next to my laptop for a while and noticed I was hitting 99.9km/h too.
Appeared to cover 60km, just sitting at my desk.

And I thought this cycling lark was going to be hard :D
