Astro Turf - for outdoor balcony

I have an outdoor balcony which is approx 3m x 3m.

Recently I was thinking it would be pretty cool to have some sort of astro turf material laid on top of the existing concrete tiles.

Has anyone used astro turf or something similar for a mini project such as this? I'm guessing I would just buy 3m x 3m and lay it like a carpet.

    Any advice welcome. Thanks!

Sounds similar to Belvedere College's Astro turf pitch on the roof! I think your only problem will be trying to get such a small amount of the stuff, could be pricey.

Its a pretty cool idea though, make sure you let us know how it goes!

an aunt of mine has a crazy golf set up at the back of her house she got rubber paint for the concrete it might be worth a look for you could be cheaper than astro

Hey, thanks for the replies. I had a look in B&Q yesterday but they don't stock astro turf or synthetic grass.

By the way... I'm not looking to create a 3m x 3m football pitch :pac: I just want to have something nice and comfy for the feet when sitting outside.

You'll need to make contact with one of the sports grounds companies. Or even if you knew of a sports club putting in something similar maybe you could arrange that you'd take their leftover pieces or get them to order a little extra. Might be worth a try!

    cork based company, http://www.courtcare.net/
they do work all over the country, they would have "off cuts" left after laying tennis court or the like.

give them a call, they may be able to help.

Thanks. Unfortunately I'm based in London. I'll take a look at those sites and see if I can find something similar over here.

I know, just that I was looking for some myself and this thread was on the 1st page of Google so I thought I would update it once I found a company as it might help someone else out (being on the 1st page of Google results and all....)

Has anyone used this on their yard? may be a cheaper alternative to paving,my yard is 100 sq mtrs,i presume it has its downfalls?

Not as far as I know.

My mother in law got her backgarden done to reduce the amount of work the garden would need (mowing etc) and so that the grand kids could play out all weather and so far so good - the drainage is very good on these things.
