Anyone else getting this type of error on World at War? It started happening after I took the last update with the free daytime Makin map.
I've seen on other forums that a lot of player who have UPC broadband are getting this issue, but it has been experienced around the world by players, friend of mine rang Trayarch and gave out to them about it, they know about the issue but have no timeline on a fix. :( Anyone else experiencing this issue? Its frustrating as you can be nearing the of a game getting great scores and screen will go black and you'll get the "Free content index error" message and your kicked out of the game losing all your score points promotions and challanges you might have completed

No it was a patch with the free map thrown in, I've uninstalled the game data and re-installed and same issue, I am having the same issue on COD4 with the map pack installed.

Seriously if Activision want someone to test for bugs they should ask me as not only have I had both of the above but I've also had my rank reset to zero after prestiging last month my county went to - millions and reset me to rank 1, advantage is I kept all my weapons, disadvantage all the challanges I've done didn't reset so very hard to rank up without extra points :( .
Also its annoying having american kids asking me whats the secret to getting the flamethrower when I'm only level 25

Well the big patch that came out last Thursday night sorted out this error for me, its look like they release World at War on the PS3 as a work in progress, as I got a loan of it on the 360 and the patch was only about 10-20MB compared to the 140MB (or was it 170MB) patch on the PS3. Anyway no more random boots from games, but what I found yesterday that it was pretty hard to get into games, and my PS3 froze up a couple of times.
So even though we didn't get the maps on time I'm pretty pleased they fixed the free content index error

Well I find it only happens when you're using Chorus broadband internet.. My mates had the same problem with chorus and the map pack, there is a complicated way to change the ports of the internet or something along those lines, I myself dont know about computers and that sort of stuff, but I found that by deleting the map pack that the context index crap doesnt appear as often as when I had the map pack! So I'd recommend to just delete the map pack, Creek chinatown etc are not worth having the game cut out alot! Enjoy!

    Id agree with that too

Have chorus as well and over the last 3 months have downloaded and deleted the map pack on numerous occasions because of this issue.

It just doesnt work well together.:(

The only way they'd fix it is if they were looking for more money from people i.e. more maps or whatever, and if no-one paid (which wouldnt happen, as there are 1,000,001 kids in the states who will buy it and who dont care if the game cuts out etc etc..) So no they wont fix it for us... :( but if it happens with MW2 then we should all complain for sure! Im at work now I should be working :S
