    Hey all.
Just wondering if anybody here got their same station in Phase 4 that they got in phase 2?
Is there anything that dictates this or is it just "make a good impression and the super will try to get you back"?
Anything the student can do specifically to make it happen?

No theres nothing you can specifically do to make it happen just hope for the best, the lads from my intake who were sent back to their phase 2 stations had either welfare issues, pull or were sh*t hot!

Theres nothing and I have never come across a Super that was impressed enough to actually use 'pull' and get someone back. People say it but didnt you find that when everyone got back to phase 3 they were the greatest phase 2 students ever????

If you get a station again it was personal pull. If you get changed prior to getting attested but after being allocated a station, it was personal pull (not too mention being a prick that just screwed another lad) and if you get a transfer outside of the division inside probation, you had personal pull.

Haha well said! its funny because one of the lads who said it all the time, was sent miles from where he was on phase 2

does anyone else not find it demoralising the amount of "pull" that goes on in the guards. Some of the donkeys that get great stations / courses etc is shocking, and all because they know someone high up.Some of these people shouldn't even be in the job, and we all know a few of them.
While the regular hardworking guard gets bypassed.
Thoughts? Is it just something I should get used to, and accept it as "part of the job" ?

If your **** hot you'll get the same devision on phase four as you did on phase two like me :pac: Now all joking aside no super is going to use pull to get a student back!! Basically it all depends on how hr are feeling in the park, if you got pull there your sorted.

What would classify a Phase 2 as being sh!t hot? Since you're an observer technically what are they looking for? Apologies if this seems like a silly question but I'm a civilian and don't have any experience of the realities of life as a Garda.

And here's me thinking there was all manner of hard work involved. Ah the innocence of youth:D. I knew those handcuffs and notebooks were only for show.

Or when a call comes in that theres someone gone into the water...... when you arrive at call and your tutor or senior man throws you into the water..... if you save the person your sh*t hot, if you have to be saved or you drown your not goin back to same station on phase 4. :D
If your a county player you'll no doubt get looked after aswell.

I was told by training staff that I got the same phase 4 station as my phase 2 cos the Super wanted me back. Apparently he was impressed with my handling of the first call to the station for a Tiger Kidnapping. He mustn't have smelt the soiling in my pants at the time. The only problem was the station is 1hr 20mins drive from my home so the Super arranged with the Chief to move me closer to home.

Does that make me sh!t hot??

Not really. I just didnt avail of the usual student perks such as going home an hour early on a quiet night (afraid Id miss something), I helped carry out the remains of a man who was dead 4 days, the Ser I/C thought I was good enough and mature enough to be let out with one other probationer garda on public order beats and the fact I didnt complain when asked to do crappy jobs around the station. Basically I did what I wsa told cos I wanted and loved the experience of it all and it must've showed.

    Pull:
I hate the whole idea of pull. I have pull in the job from family members if I wanted but I flatly refused it. I prefer to make my own way and to earn the respect from my own work rather than be rewarded for who I know not what I know. Anyway I think its a poor indication of someone who uses pull to get promotion in any job but thats just me.

I agree with that. (might be cos i dont have any pull:D)
I came into the job knowing I could end up at the other end of the country. I was lucky with phase 2 but it wouldnt be the end of the world if I didn't get sent back there. Its just that if i had my choice, thats where i'd go, or somewhere in the division.

I should probably add too that I was lucky that members were needed within the Division I went back to. If no one was needed then I doubt I would have been going back in that direction again.

I think its better for you not to have pull cos then like me you know that whatever achievements you have over your career is down to you and you alone, not someone in the background working on your behalf

agree dont liek the idea of pull.
I was told on phase 2 by the super that he would like to have me back to ph 4 same with the training serg, but i suppose they prob say that to every one, anyhow hope they do as i dont want to go back there, dont think i even want to go back to the division !!!

Notwithstanding the nogs story, I'd be very surprised if the "Super" paid more than a passing interest in the presence of trainees in his station.

Apart from the relevant paperwork, I'd think he'd have more pressing matters on his desk than to take a personal interest in the "work experience" routine?

thats very true but I suppose a Super would also want a good worker back to his/her station/district rather than a useless one
