Lol at the "ok i dont have alot of posts but im point is still valid!" who cares about the number of posts..... The fact of the matter is that this game COULD have of had a much bigger prize pool, at least two/three more cash tables and all local players in the one spot for the night!

Compeition is total bollex for players! Smaller player pools in more spots around the city results in less cash for tourny players to play for not to metion lack of cash tables afterwards

some people in waterford will have to get there act together or there will be no club in waterford in the very near future

Wrong Wrong Wrong, Competition is good for players. if there was only one operator then there would be no guaranteed prize pools, no value at all for players, sure why would there need to be, if there is only one you put up with it or f*** off. Simple.

If one operator was so much better than the other then they would get all the business, the fact is there not. That is why people spread out.

Dont think u get this at all ??

What the guy is saying is that weekly regular games in Waterford ae fine and competition is good for players but when there is decent guaranteed events and other operators decide to try and take from it it makes no sense . I did not make Waterford the other night as i was up in Newbridge but from Talkin to the Lads the majority went to Big Slicks Game Half that went to a game in Tramore and about 20 went to Foxs .

What is the sense in that If there was one game the pot would be 20k+ and the players would have huge value .

I agree from what i hear in Waterford its all got ridiculous people knockin each other to gain players and i hate that . I mean I would have gone to the 10k Guaranteed game if i was around as its the one with the Value

I think Waterford will have no Club in the long run the way things are going down there

The point is that genuine hold em players in Waterford just want a place to play cards. They do not want the uncertainty of back stabbing and bickering and the uncertainty of wether we will have a card club in Waterford in 2,4 or 6 months time..............tournament organisers going head to head just adds fuel to this fire. For example ... as was discussed with me on Friday at the Woodlands, how come there was 3 games organised for Friday and none organised for the bank holiday Monday. ??????????????

If there is animosity between organisers this filters down to the players, this will lead to a split between players, and a split between loyalties. In turn we may have two barely profitable clubs...and the uncertainty just continues on.....and on.......and on

Putting my fortune tellers hat on.............this is how I, eventually see it turning out.........there will be a club alright, because the game has become to big and popular, for there not to be..... however, the club will be, NON profit premises, run by people who enjoy the game and who want to keep the game alive in the town. The club will be run by a committee who give their time voluntary. Reg money and rake will go for the upkeep of the club. Their will still be issues and the sh it will still carry on but so will the game.

The challenge now is for the club(s) to get there acts together and keep the game from becoming a profitable business enterprise (nothing wrong with this) to becoming a non profitable club run by local/south east players.

    Colm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭THEIRISHMOB

    Is there still 2 clubs?
I thought it was only the Olympus and blazin-aces was closed.

There is only room for ONE club in Waterford and I don't see this as a matter
of loyaty. The players should go where they are looked after..Simple.
Well run tournaments, good staff and management, good facilites, hot food and drinks, a good regular cash game with a good rake structure and fish.
(Ooooh and the odd chinese yum)

If this is on offer then you go here? if not then your a fool.
If someone comes along and offers more or better then you go their.

Sorry Richie didnt really mean it like that, i meant with 3 150 games on the same night its like havin a 3,500k game over on the north side of dublin the same weekend as the irish open, i do agree on the regular weekly games things though! Plus in fairness i havent been to any badly run poker tournments in waterford but weekly or weekenders...... that may be the problem though, like u were sayin above!

+1, plus with that i see the better waterford players (and there are alot) turning to online play and the live talent will die out, i might win then! Good for me so!:D
