Electrics in Golf mk4 passenger door

    Hi folks,

I recently inherited an 01 mk4 golf, problem is, none of the electrics work on the passenger side door.
It's got electric windows, electric wing mirrors and central locking but none of which work.
Is it possible that they all went individually, or is it more likely that the problems are all linked?
In either case, is it expensive to get it repaired?

    Thanks in advance!

Check the wires at the door hinge, where they pass from the car body into the door. There is a rubber seal there and if you pull it back, you'll be able to see the wires inside it and they could be frayed/damaged.

Also, if all is well on that front, what could have happened is someone could have taken the inside door panel off at some stage and forgotten to reconnect the electrical block connector back onto the switch assembly for that door, or they might have put it back on but it has fallen off. If you carefully take out the switch for that door, you will see whether it is properly connected to the block connector...

As far as I know, that switch in the door beside the interior door handle can be easily taken out with a gentle prise of a screwdriver... Just check in case there is a screw or two holding it in...

I'd recommend getting a Hayes manual for the Golf IV. It really helps you sort out any small DIY problems like this one.
