JB Claim Linking

Can anyone advise me on the following?
Sorry for long post - trying to include relevant information.

I was let go from my job in July 2007 and awarded 312 days JB.
I was classed as a casual worker and worked every day I could get.
I got Maternity Benefit for 26 weeks from March 2008 to Sept 2008.
I got full time work straight away but was let go in December (about 13 weeks work).
I got JB again (claimed Dec but only got cheque last week) but it has been linked to my old claim so I will only get it for another 3 months approximately.
I'm still doing casual work whenever I can get it (and looking for fulltime work).
I have all of my contributions paid in full or credited (eg. when in college) since finishing school in the 1990s.
I am getting concerned because I can't find work and the JB will run out soon.

Should this claim have been linked to the old claim?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
