Strange problem

Ok I've been doing a fair bit of swapping and changing with my set up recently and haven't been getting much music done, but yesterday I bought a new cable to connect the output of my soundcard to my monitors. So i had a red connector in one hand and a white connector in the other and I realised that I didn't know which one was for the right channel and which one was for the left channel. So I connected them up and checked in Reason by panning a channel on the mixer hard left and the sound came through the left speaker, success I thought..... but then for some reason I decided to check it the same way in Reaper, I panned a channel hard left but it came through on the right speaker! How the hell is this possible? Can someone tell me how the right and left output channels in Reason and Reaper can be completely opposite? (I know its probably some stupid error on my part).

Hi, we talking external mixer? white is always left and red right....

check them throughout your setup and all should be fine :)

I did have a stereo jack once (retail) that was wired the opposite way round too :(

I checked the channels again last night with headphones and it seems that its a problem in reaper. The headphones were connected directly to the headphones out on my soundcard and the channels were opposite, the same problem is not occurring in Reason. So now I'm sure its a problem within Reaper and not a problem with my soundcard or any cables. I've had a look around the preferences in Reaper and I can't seem to find any way of correcting the problem. Any ideas?

    OOOOOOOH..

Sounds like the Pots are gone in Reaper - Could be expensive to fix! :D

    Only messing Mate :)

Probably will be quicker if you drop them a line - I dont know anything about it I'm sorry to say.. apart from check everything twice.

But you already would have done that of course - No use telling you that.

It sure sounds like Reaper is at fault.. Worth checking out.

Have you tried turning off your computer and then throwing it out the window?
