    hi all,

bit of an odd one. got my e200 valeted today and now the boot won't open. the interior boot switch has a red led on it and I cannot open the boot using the key either.

I'am assuming that the washing of the rear seats may have caused a problem with the battery/fuses underneath it.

    now any idea's on

    1. how to open the boot

    2. how to gain access to the battery area ( don't want to rip the seat base out )

    thanks in advance

    brendan

is there a manual keyhole just above the number plate?

there must be some provision made for when the car battery is flat?

re: the battery, isn't it in the boot as opposed to under the seat?

or maybe if u pull down the back seat and get into the boot and see if there is a release mechanism where the boot latches.on most cars there is one of these and its usually a small little lever that pops the boot when pushed.

    hi

thanks for the idea's there is a key on the boot but i think the release solenoid was holding it in the locked position. I got access to teh battery compartment, there are two push buttons one on either side of the rear seat base that releases the cushion, the underneath was literally soaking wet and water was dripping from the felt insulation. I'am drying it off over night and see how things are in the morning .

    regards
