    Hi,

I signed up less than a month ago. Last night my remote died (tried new batteries to be sure). Called Sky and they said i must go to a local store, buy a new remote and send the invoice to Sky to get refunded.

    Questions:
    1. It sounds like one of those headaches to get paid back. Anyone here went through that before?
    2. Where can you buy these replacement remotes?

    Thanks in advance.

Remote controls are never usually covered by warrantly due to the fact that people usually man handle them, i.e. drop them, use it whilst eating your dinner and grease getting between the contacts spillages etc...so I'd be amazed if they covered the remote in the method they told you as in my opinion the Hd remotes cost more than there current offer.

I seen them a few times in Currys for €70 and was shocked...but in argos etc they are approx €40 ....

Warranty may not cover them, but the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980 does. Must be fit for purpose, and of merchantable quality. If it breaks after a month, it's not.

Do as Sky say, Zynks, and any trouble getting it back threaten them with the Small Claims Court ;)

Thanks guys. I just got an email from Power City and they have it for €29.99. The guy in Sky said it was a common issue and that normally they just post a new one out, but he couldn't say why they don't do that for Ireland. I guess it is something to do with the recycling charge or something like that.

I am on my way now to buy the new one and will send them the invoice. I tend to get very pushy when people try to get away with little things because they assume you won't take it very seriously, so let's see how it goes.
