There's talk of them at EP on the EP forum, but I don't want to get me hopes up!

    Great stuff!
But what the hell are the Pixies doing playing on such a crap line-up (Neil Young being the exception)

Isle Of Wight is a big festival, the lineup will surely improve as time goes on. And how dare you imply that the Ting Tings are crap!

Anyways, Pixies tour = w00t!! Hopefully will get to see them if I can convince someone to go with me.

You do realise they have been reformed for a few years now and even have multiple live DVDs of said Reunion - Kim Deal included.

I thought this was a zombie post when I opened it. They've been back for a while now.

I love the Pixies, but I think they should knock it on the head at this stage - they're never going to record anything new, touring year after year with the same songs makes them nothing more than an ageing nostalgia act.

i know they reformed a few years back, I saw them in lansdowne in 2005 but after that they just stopped anything and chances of new material or even reforming again was gone, i saw sometin about Kim Deal saying that she never wanted to do anything with the Pixies again, it was only a few months too:pac:

The Pixies acoustic set live in Newport is excellent, saw it on Sky Arts recently, worth checking it out.

They've been disbanded for a while too, almost two years.

I'm sure they will release new material if they are touring. Frank Black is a writing machine!!!

He's like Ryan Adams, just pumps out the songs, the hard part is sifting through the material for the gold x.gif

The gold is there often enough anyway. Hope they don't play ****** (although it would be pretty mindblowing to see both Pixies and Nick Cave in one festival).

Yeah it's on the ticketmaster news. Hope I get tickets. Saw them in Phoenix Park 2004 but was way too far away from the stage and most ppl didn't seem to know them. Olympia should be good.

Seen The Pixies in the national stadium many years ago, they were brilliant. What a band live, especially in a small venue. Those shows in the olympia will be awesome....

The demand for the tixs is going to be thru the roof. I'll try me best, but knowing my luck there's no way I'm going to get a ticket tomorrow! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 463 ✭✭asharkman

Should be a good gig. Pretty expensive tickets though 50e ouch!

    Paid worse for non-legendary bands.

Saw them in the Phoenix Park and Lansdowne Road, but I'd say they'd be on a different level at an indoor gig.

I was online at 9 too, but could not get a ticket. It must have been 2 minutes past nine when I got the sold out notice for the friday night gig.

Cant believe it has sold out already! missed them the last two times they have been here

    I can.

Yeah I wasn't shocked at all that they went so quickly after seeing how fast Faith No More sold out.

Only thing that pissed me off was that I didn't get any feckin' tickets. We don't all got your contacts Homerun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭Kid V

So disappointed i didnt get a tic. Queued with mates for just under an hour and a half. I was the 6th person in the queue and i was the first to not get a tic. Just wish the people in front of me had paid in cash rather than laser. It would of sped things up and i might have got a ticket. Absolutely gutted. Tried to spend away my sorrows in tower straight after by buying a few CDs. Probably going to try and drown them later on tonight.

Congratulations everyone who got a ticket. Its a once in a lifetime chance to see one of the greatest bands performing their greatest work.

I can only hope and dream they'll tour again in the future. They might be tempted to from a financial perspective.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,078 ✭✭✭theCzar

Was on at 9am but forced to wait 3 mins in queue... no tickets.

Luckily a friend of mine came up trumps with a spare.

    All touts must die.

The band's rep has confirmed that the Pixies will celebrate the 20th anniversary release of Doolittle by playing the album in its entirety this fall when the band tours Europe. No word on whether or not the band plans to to tour North America.
