    Hi
I read an ad in the Metro this morning saying installation of Sky HD is now €24.50 (down from recent offer of €49).
    How low will they go?

if only they dropped the monthly sub for HD and then we would all pile in!!

    Apologies!!

    still noteworthy OP.

with the mandatory €15 HD sub, people may be more inclined to go for SKY+.

    mandatory €15 HD sub

Would consider it myself if this went. Have a Freesat HD box at the moment and stuff like "Nature's Great Events" looks amazing on the BBC HD channel. Football on ITV HD looks similarly impressive (sound problems excepted), especially when compared with SD.

Will this extra charge ever go?

The almost universal perception is that they will eventually.

They had a simliar subsription model with Sky + for a few years before ending that, and as most stations start to migrate to HD/SD hybrid stations the luxury nature of HD will become obsolete and it will start to become regarded as standard. As that happens, it will be impossible for Sky to continue charging for a HD 'pack'.

The only question I'd have is how long Sky plan to milk it for.

Some Sky exec recently said that there were no plans to drop the HD charges.

/\ Obviously he would say that. No-one would sign-up now if the prices were to drop soon.

Yes, I noticed alright, taht the NPL (No Phone Line) charge has been dropped for the month of March.

For those with no landlines, this is the month to get Sky, as you won't have to fork out the extra €37.50 NPL charge.

    How come in Britain it's £9.75 a month yet it's €15 here?
