Help with BBC Radio 4

    Anyone able to help me?

I sold a '09 Audi A3 to a customer the other day. He always listened to BBC Radio 4 in his previous car on AM.

I guess his previous car had longwave reception, but the A3 is only on mediumwave.

Does anyone listen to BBC Radio 4 who could suggest a frequency I could try?

If it makes a difference, he's in the south Dublin area.

    Thanks!

    Take A look at
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Radio_4
the long wave signal will travel further than the medium wave.
    You may get lucky though.

    Thanks.

720KHz not working for me at the moment though. Might work better when it's dark.

Hi. Can anyone tell me if BBC R4 is available on digital radio in Ireland? WIFI isn't an option because our dismal connection won't support radio streaming. I like to listen in the kitchen and in bed at night so listening through Sky is also not an option. So, I'm thinking of buying a digital radio. Is there any point? I am a BBC R4 devotee of thirty years and am suffering withdrawals since moving to a broadband starved area in Co. Wexford. (I have listened using my iPhone and WIFI in the last two years but had a 12mb WIFI connection in Dublin). LW radio offers only a very poor reception, noisy and intermittent. I miss R4. Please help!

You should have started a new thread instead of pulling up this old thread.

And no, BBC4 is not available on digital radio in ROI. The only place you might pick it up is near the border with a DAB radio. But in Wexford, either get a high gain DAB aerial and stick it on your house roof or listen to it via satellite (the satellite sky digital uses)

Edit, I just googled the satellite frequency for you if you. It can be picked up on 11.954Mhz, Horizontal, FEC: 27500 - 2/3. All 3 variants of BBC4 are there

There's no reason why you should not get good LW reception in Wexford, maybe build your own loop aerial to improve reception.

As another point, do you benefit from the spillover of Freeview from Wales? If you do, you may be able to pick up the associated digital radio signal.

Cheap Android phone plus TuneInRadio app is probably the best bet. 198khz isn't long for this world too, there were rumors of it shutting down.
