You've ruined the poll results by your comments pushing people towards voting for the answer you want them to say.

attended jet wash 10 euro / the same sponge used all day
Same sponmge used all day- The relevance of this is minimal

drivethrough car wash 10 euro /damages paint
But is convenient, most regular people don't give a toss if it swirls their paint, They just need their car cleaned quickly, and a lot of the time for the regular carwash users its a company car so they don't care.

jetwash it yourself 3minutes 2 euro / the same brush used all day
Again your assuming the public have some knowledge of this having some significance, they don't and they don't care if the brush is changed once a year or once an hour, once there is a brush their they are happy.

mobile car valet 40 euro / comes to you
I presume this is the one your selling as you don't make a negative comment about it?

do it yourself @ home with what ever products you have
Most people who go throught the effort of doing it at home will have all the proper gear, or else they will just use a bucket and sponge and once its clean they are happy.

Sorry if I'm having a go at you here, but your completely looking at this through the eyes of someone who knows the goods and bads of carwashes. I operate several washes in my petrol stations, the ratio of people buying brush washes as against jet washes (be they attended or otherwise) is about 10xbrush wash to 1xjetwash.

Car washing imo has fallen into the convenience sector. Only the small minority will take the time and care to use the two bucket method, clay their car etc etc. almost everyone else just wants a wash "to take the heavy dirt off" and they are happy. Think about from regular peoples perspective, do your parents/grandparents care a jot about a sponge not being changed? a brush not being cleaned? Do they care that a drive through will swirl a car so that up close when you look at it with a shien on it you will be able to see them (even though no one else on the road will). I'd suggest no, they don't care.

You need to be more objective and remove some the excitment you have about your product/service and just take a step back for a minute. No one else wil be enthustic about it, they will just want their car cleaned as quickly, relatively cheaply and painlessly as possible.

A case in point is the lads promoting the "waterless carwash system" in Ireland at the moment. It a superb system, but no one cares that it uses no water and no one is that interested so its falling on its face and is not being taken up at all.

Either way, best of luck with your venture. Sorry I'm such a grump :o

    Regards,
    HT

some good advice there mate but i,m not selling anything its a poll out of interest .
that may lead to selling something ,,

like posting it on the motors forums i have an idea of what the vote will be there ..
thats why i asked business minded people to have a look ,
now i dont know if everyone on boards knows the ins and outs of washing a car but it seems that you do and maybe the motor thread is your target but its not mine at the moment.
id like to post this poll in every topic considering it is something most people do whenever or sometimes never..

but i doubt if the mods would like that so thats why i posted in the business thread too.

    thanks again ,
btw nothing in the poll is aimed at a car washing product or whatever , even if it looks that way ..

+1. OP this isn't a poll, it's contaminated with your own suggested product.

OP, you're looking at this in the wrong way I think... If you go to any of the good carwashes that are known locally for doing a decent job, you'll see a queue at them. The fact that the same sponge is used all day has no bearing on the end result. The only two factors that really matter here are:

    (1) The quality of the result.

    (2) The cost of the result.

You can't be competitive at 40 Euro when a very effective result can be obtained by going down to Texaco in Lucan for example and have your car handwashed for 10 Euro.

washed ' wheels sealed with some sort of wax and all tar removed from body and wheels , then dried and waxed 1 layer then buffed off and a sealer wax put on , the shine of the car is well worth 40 euro alone
then the inside air vents cleaned dash seats and carpet ,

thats just what i pay for i could pay more for extra detail but i'm happy paying 40 euro for this service ,

each to there own an all that i just take pride in the car i own , i know alot of people have cars on finance and couldn't bother looking after the car or they drive dirt boxes from a to b and wait till they are beond repair to get a new one .

like i bought my car and in order to get some sort of value back i look after it i have all the reciepts from the valet's to the air fresheners i buy ,
service's anything that i've ever bought for the car , it sells the car quicker knowing it was looked after in any way from new tyres to a full service

alot of irish people just dont bother . i see cars from the north come down here and there spotless compared to the ones on are roads, the northen people take alot more pride in there cars than we do .imo

cant blame are roads its just lack of respect for there car imo ..

darragh you seem a bit put out about my poll
sorry if the topics i choose are wrong in your opinion .
40 euro is expensive thats the bad point along with all the other topics i choose brushe's sponge's your own product ..

there is a method in my madness buddy and a i said the topics are a feeler to a product /business ..
i dont want to say anymore on what business it is or could be .
    but all will be revealed

btw thanks for all the advice so far

Nah OP, I'm not knocking it. If you have an idea, one like this could be set up and kicked off for little investment. I've a lot of experience in the motor industry, you could get all the chemicals and dispensers and bits and pieces required to get you off the ground for the first month for under 750 Euro. If you invested 1,000 Euro into a marketing campaign, get a few thousand leaflets done up and go around to a few garages and see if you can get some trade work (for 40 quid a shot, you will get that work, but stick to cash only and make sure you do the job right or you won't get the repeat business, and also if you say you are turning up, turn up, 'cos if you let someone down and a sale falls through, you've lost the business).

Capital equipment in the form of a professional hoover for valeting will set you back around 600 Euro. I don't think a powerwasher is a runner with a mobile service, so this will mean the job will be labour intensive.

Personally I'd be looking for 60-80 Euro minimum for this. Spend more time on the car and make an impression on the car and the customer. Word of mouth is everything here!

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it! ;)
