First congratulations to John Hayes on what will be a record breaking weekend for him and possibly other Irish players....

Obviously he is about to claim the Irish caps record. He is also well on track to claim the record for most 6 nations appearances. He stands at 47 with just Fabian Pelous 49 and Jason Leonard 50 ahead of him.

An absolute legend who is the consumate professional and completely unassuming and down to earth guy. He puts the head down and gets on with it and does not always get the recognition he deserves. So he is well deserving of his moment in the spot light this weekend even if it makes him a little uncomfortable!

ROG (475) is also standing on the brink of over taking Jonny Wilkinson (479) as the highest 6 nations points scorer. He will be a lot sharper this weekend I have no doubt compared to the last time out and should claim the record with ease.

On the tries scoring front BOD is currently leading by 4 from Ben Cohen (16) and will hopefully extend it.

And finally we also have the heaviest player too. Coming in at a hefty 134kg (thats an earth shaking 21 stone 1lb) is Tony Buckley! The bull is 125kg, 19 stone 7lb

Roll on saturday evening and a good performance and win hopefully.

John "The Bull" Hayes is in terms of Irish Rugby the definition of a Legend. The man gives 100% for every single minute he is on the pitch and is universally admired by fans and his peers. I cant think of a more worthy record setter, in a similar veign to Axel Foley at Munster last year and as you say he is worthy of his moment in the spotlight.

as for the other records firstly LMAO at BUckley for winning the heaviest fecker on the pitch award :D, O'Gara will pass Johnnys haul although Wilkinson does have time on his side (if injuries will allow it) to get it back and BOD well I think it will be quite a while before anyone breaks his record which he aint finished setting yet.

Pity that all he has going for him.

I agree re the other 2.

I don't tend to agree with comments about the Bull not always getting the recognition he deserves. The truth is he is not the greatest prop in the world, but I think all Irish people know how lucky we are to have had him for the last ten years. He is under-rated by no one in Ireland. If nothing else, I would love for us to win the 6N just to see him lift the trophy - it is no more than he deserves. He has copped a lot of flak over the years, but he has responded admirably. He has even come out and said he deserved some of it, yet has put in some monstrous performances over the last few years and has really become the embodiment of "solid", and I mean that in a good way. He's never going to get Man of the Match and tbh I agree with that, he is never the best player on the pitch. But I think he would be okay with the idea that he has never been the worst either and has done his province and his country proud with his performances. The sight of him still going on the pitch, and still getting emotional at the anthems is something to behold, and I hope it is something we never lose from rugby. Despite it being an overused phrase, The Bull truly is a legend.

Bod scores one more try , he passes umaga and becomes the highest scoring centre in international rugby history:pac:

Thats wierd,I was actually looking at umaga's try scoring record in the tri nations yesterday and its woeful, something like 6 tries in total.

I presume his total overall is 1 greater, although imo Bod surpased it years ago because umaga played wing for alot of his early career, where trys were a plenty.

The thing that I wonder about the Bull is actually how long he can go on for.I can see this being his last season and you would have to wonder if Ross or Court take over are they anywhere near the standard we think they are.
We could end up getting killed in the scrum for years if his replacement isnt up to the job.

Well said Podge_irl, I think that sums it up well. Breakingnews.ie has Stringer with 97 caps, which must be a typo?

Well, he never gets injured, and prop is one of the positions where age isn't as big a factor. Plus his scrummaging seems to be getting better as he goes along. If anything, you'd hope there would be a transition to a new prop, rather than him immediately retiring.
