hi there. I have gotton a merkur safety razor and a selection of blades. i am enjoying the shaving but still finding the products i llike. I noticed there are numberes on top of the razor head. On merkur blades there are corresponing number. I presume these should match up when i insert the blade into the razor? is it the same for other blades that they should be placed with one particular face up?
    many thanks

It doesn't make any difference as far as I am aware. Any blades I have seen have been sharpened from both faces so there is no right or wrong way to insert them.

Will not make a difference which side of the blade is up or down.

(I think one of the Merkurs has a plate that holds the blade in place that
you can put in upside down though...)

Blades like the Derbys, have 1,2 on one side and 3,4 on the other. In my eyes, I think its merely to help you keep track of which sides you've used. I've noticed some people like to turn the blade over after shaves.
    Just my 2cents!

It doesn't matter. Both sides are milled the same way. The important thing with blades is to handle themas little a possible.
