i saw a viking 53.1 frame, ss conversion outside city cycles in marino today, but theres a lot of rust around the edges on it, how difficult would it be to remove this rust? it doesnt look like its threatening the bike just the paint work.

i probably wont go for it my self, but i was looking at it for a friend. its 275 if anyone is interested, newly built up weels by the looks of it as well.

Wire wool will remove surface rust.

As Hermy says with the wire wool but I soak the frame first with WD40 or Plusgas for an hour.

Edit: Just saw how old this thread is!
