hi all's :) I have a UPC media box I've had for about a year now, it's had no real problems except for some glitchy programmes where it keeps skipping bits for a few seconds at a time untill now. I turned it on today and I got a message saying "there appears to be no signal , check if the cables are properly inserted at the back of the UPC Media Box" and keeps flicking on and off, so it's like a little strobe light trying to read that message :P

I checked the cables, reinserted them, plugged it out for a while and back in, all the obvious stuff. None of it seemed to work :( would anyone know what this problem is?? I don't want to be stuck with "there appears to be no signal , check if the cables are properly inserted at the back of the UPC Media Box" for the next while :P

    Thanks in advance!!

(P.S. sorry if this was posted elsewhere but I couldn't find it straight away so I just posted)

Hey just a different question. I have an older NTL Box, and just received a new UPC card rang them to swap the card over. But I still have the same EPG, will I get the new one at some stage or will have I have to get a new box?

I'm not certain but I would image it's the box. I doubt the cards have that much info on them, though it may be possible they'll update the software on the older boxes once they've swapped out the old cards.

They could implement the new EPG on the older boxes, but doubt it, they will just replace them over time.

So why did I get a new card, even the girl on the phone thought it was strange that I got a new one.

And wouldn't it be cheaper for them just to let my box download the new EPG rather then give me a new box????

Everyone with NTL boxes (ones that are branded NTL, not Chorus or UPC) is getting a new viewing card. This is apparently to do with the upgrade in encryption in NTL areas to help combat the widespread piracy in these areas.

Nothing at all to do with the EPG. I doubt the EPG for NTL (or Chorus) boxes will be changed at this stage, if they were going to do that they probably would have a long time ago. Supporting three different EPGs is probably cheaper than going to the trouble of porting the UPC EPG to the NTL and Chorus platforms.
