    "The Workmans Friend"
When things go wrong and will not come right,
Though you do the best you can,
When life looks black as the hour of night -
A pint of plain is your only man.

When money's tight and hard to get
And your horse has also ran,
When all you have is a heap of debt -
A pint of plain is your only man.

When health is bad and your heart feels strange,
And your face is pale and wan,
When doctors say you need a change,
A pint of plain is your only man.

When food is scarce and your larder bare
And no rashers grease your pan,
When hunger grows as your meals are rare -
A pint of plain is your only man.

In time of trouble and lousey strife,
You have still got a darling plan
You still can turn to a brighter life -
A pint of plain is your only man.

    ^ Flann O Brien?

I think he also said something about the important things in a man's life, his pint and his wife being 'cognate in contour'.

    A wise man.

You should post a message here -

    Pix.ie St Patrick's Festival Competition

I think there a few of us planning to meet at the Storehouse if you can wrangle an invite ...

I'll be at the festival ... though I'm not one of the honour few in the cage like Rymus, sineadw and Bovril ... or even the golden pass like DarrenG!!

Which street on St. Stephens Green?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,445 ✭✭✭bovril

Sorry if I confused in the post above, what I meant is that the street where you have to collect the pass is long and it's the St. Stephen's green end of it where you have to go.

Its on Earlsfort terrace, which meets the Green at the same corner as Leeson St.

We have ONE more wristband available for the parade - Just comment on this Pixie blog post....

There are also a couple of tickets left for photographers to go to the Guinness Storehouse: "After the parade, you are invited to the Guinness Storehouse from 15:00 where there will be further photo opportunities at Diageo’s St Patrick’s Festival Party. Once again there is a Pixie guest list on the door, everyone will receive free admission, several complimentary drink vouchers and invited to a private get together in the Rainsford Suite where food and drinks will be served at 16:30-17:30. This is not to be missed and don’t forget to bring a tripod if you want to get great shots!"

    Again just leave a comment!

The other Golden "AAA" Pass went to Hazel...

UPDATE: FORGOT TO MENTION: the full list of people who got parade access has been published on that blog post. Everyone who commented so far is on the list for the Guinness Storehouse.
