    What's the question again

My brother had two of those yokes, he only got rid of them there last week because they overgrew the tank. Apparently they get real big, like bigger than the size of a big grown man's palm.

they look like red eared sliders too me but i might be wrong
a bigger land area in the tank wouldnt be a bad thing

They look like yellow bellied sliders to me Trachemys scripta scripta. They're certainly from the same genus anyway.

Terrapin is an ambiguous term that usually refers to some kind of fresh water turtle or semi-aquatic turtle.

Where did you get these from? How come you don't know what to feed them? Sorry to answer your question I'm not sure. I presume the usual Terrapin rules apply in that the younger animals eat a more carnivorous diet and as they get older they eat more vegetables. Don't feed them iceberg lettuce but romaine and stuff is good.

A rough way to tell the sex of the terrapins is the males have much larger foreclaws. The genatalia as far as I know are contained within the shell.

You'll find Romaine lettuce in some branches of Tesco and a few other supermarkets. Try your local one, you might be lucky. Normal garden weeds, free of pesticides and weed-killers are great, and get some Reptomin for turtles, it's a balanced food.
Oh...and they do look like Yellow Bellied Sliders.

You don't need to cover the tank at night.
You do need a uV light and heat light for daytime over their basking area to encourage them to bask, a water heater, and a strong filter to keep the water clean. Two turtles will create a LOT of mess.
You do need a bigger tank/pond for them with deeper water and lots more swimming space.

Here are a few links to info on the Tortoise Trust site, study them, bookmark them and you can refer back to them over and over.

It's hard work getting the set-up right for them, but essential or they'll become sick.

Good luck with your little guys... and any more questions you have... just ask! :)
