Driver Lofts ( Confused )

I am looking for info/advice on driver lofts !!

Currently using Ping G10 10.5 degree that I hit quite well, I also have a Titleist new 909 D2 9.5 degree I can also hit this quite well, both stiff shafts, similar distance but know with a little time I will hit Titleist better, and I believe Titleist are more accurate.

I need to drop one of these clubs and concentrate on the other. My bad drive always tends to be a snap hook but thankfully its maybe 1 per round at most, problem is the snap hook is worse with the Titleist as its a lesser loft which creates more spin so when wrong its very wrong, reward would be better if i get swinging correctly as I have a nice draw with this particular shaft but less room for error overall , I am aware of what I am doing wrong and working on it.

For the long term am I better to persist with the Titleist or make life easier on myself and stay with the Ping as its sweet spot is bigger and is easier on striking errors ?? Overall we could be talkin somewhere in the region of an extra 15-30 yards with the Titleist

    Thanks Folks

have a similar prob with 2 different 3 woods one is better off tee than other and always keeps ball in play and i can really get it out there but not too good off the deck, other one is not as long but can hit it nice and high off the tee and off the deck so is super for 2nd shots to par 5's or taking off a bit of a dog leg and staying on fairway, so i tend to chop and change generally the shorter club for summer time

dont know if this will help but what i tend to do is if in doubt play with what helps me more to score better in the present

your trying to score best when playing in competitions in my opinion
midweek or driving range is where to do the practice or tinkering and whatever you leave there thinking ie. which one you hit best is the one to play with in next competition
you can re-evaluate as often as you like

Yeah thats what I have kinda been doing but I also feel u need to pick one and fully concentrate on that one, you can waste a lot of time juggling one to the other, time that could be spent trying to perfect one....

gimme a shout when you have it perfected i'll be up for a lesson;)

suppose i'm saying it's your call and play with what gives you the most possitive feeling

nothing worse than playing golf and feeling you have a weak shot in you and waiting for it to come out, cause it will, and nearly always when the pressure comes on, so you got to be comfortable when your coming down the last few holes with a chance to win and your pulling out the big dog

I'd stick with the Ping if it's proving more accurate. A few extra yards is worth nothing if it's going to be a few extra yards into the rough. Work on what you need to work on whilst using the Ping. When you feel like you have it mastered then it might be time to move on to the Titleist.

Soundsham I hear you , Perfected is probably the wrong word , maybe I should have said Tamed the club ha ha

Par72... I agree in this however, when I am swinging well I can murder both clubs, its only now and again it kills me, As everyone here knows its neither of these club's fault and both will work with the correct swing..its me, Yardage isnt enough to warrant selecting a club but if I am honest the Titleist albeit a harder club to use suits me the most, with ball flight, shape of ball and comfort standing over the ball. I do know however on the pressure shots the Ping will be more forgiving.

Titleist are more accurate? That's a bit mad if you ask me.

Hey Buachaill. Hope your game is progressing the way you would like it too.
Having played you in the matchplay - I think you used the Ping on that day - you are a quality striker of the ball and as such I think the Titleist is the club for you. Dont think you need 10.5 degree driver for your game.
Stick with the Titleist and fix that very slight swing fault that leads to the snap hook for you.
Oh and good luck in the Plate:pac:

I think it depends on your overall game.
I'd always pick consistency over 10 yards in a driver. That snap hook in stroke will wipe your card. why have that factor lurking ??

for years i played off single figures with a 3wood off every tbox banging them onto the fairway.

    whats 10 yards anyway the diff in a 6 & 7 iron !!!

I have also come to realise that driving ranges are a distraction from monotonous putting & chipping practice... thats where its won and lost.
dont mind worrying over drivers !!

Titleist are more accurate? That's a bit mad if you ask me.

From what I have been told from pro's and taking advice from people who sell these clubs ( experienced low handicap golfers) this tends to be the concensus.... Is it wrong ???

Davgtrek thanks for you advice and I completely agree, I would always chose accuracy over distance everytime and if im honest I hit a big ball anyway so distance is never an issue regardless of what club I decide. I used the Ping today against Clada in the matchplay and hit it ok, I then played a further 10 holes with my club pro using the Titleist and I am much more confident with the Titleist and I find its a much more solid feel on impact, my pro gave me a few tips on how to eliminate the snap hook and I feel I know have this sorted...heres hoping

Quick tip for you tee the ball low.

If you have ever hit a driver off the ground you will see it nearly always goes left to right.

Give it a try and let me know what happens.

I don't know who told you that Titleist drivers were more accurate than Pings.........I'd ignore that advice.

Go with the one that hits the fairway most often.

I have heard that advice Stockdam from several professionals and 2 people working in golf stores with no direct association with Titleist, They also went on to say that they dont play as long as the Ping !!
